Past Projects
Townhouse, Urban Jungle Style. Linden
We transformed derelict flower beds behind the house into a lush and tropical retreat. Upcycled old pavers to make a new patio. The beds were full of building rubble and had to be totally reconditioned with new soil and compost.
“I can’t believe what you have done. It is so exquisite. So exquisite! Thank you.“
Garden Revamp, South African Style, Birnum.
The owners of this ground floor unit asked us to update their tired and messy garden, as they had run out of ideas. We gave it a modern twist using South African succulents and shrubs.
“LOVE the new garden. You are a genius!”
Children’s Desk, Kiddie’s Style, Oaklands.
We refurbished an old desk that we had previously made for this client, to give it a new life in their 10-year-old daughter’s bedroom. It ties in perfectly with the rest of the bedroom, and provides the functionality she needs.
“Thank you for my new desk. I love it.”
Storage Area Doors, Contemporary Style, Riverclub, Sandton.
Earlier this year we redid the whole garden, and the client called us back later to add doors to the open storage area under the house. The result is a neat and tidy space which is integrated with the garden scheme.
“The gates look stunning. Thanks so much.”
Privacy Fence, Traditional Style, Melrose.
This ground-floor client lost their privacy when some trees were trimmed. So they asked us to build a fence to enclose their garden space and provide protection from the complex’s common area.
“Thanks for this, it’s neatly done and does the trick.”
Retail Store, Sandton City
Garden Life is delighted to have supplied and styled the plants for the opening of the sumptuous fashion and home decor store ONE, Mind. Body. Soul. in Sandton City, May 2022.
“A million trillion THANKS for pulling it out the bag for us. Your botanicals make the shop!”
Entertainment Room, Urban Jungle Style. Melrose
Bringing the outdoors in. Creating a tropical plant cluster inside this entertainment space to link it to the outside patio.
“Love your work.”
Garden Revamp, Contemporary Style. Riverclub, Sandton.
Levelled the slope to create a flat play area and improve stormwater run-off. Installed artificial lawn in the shady zone where grass didn’t grow. Built a zen style firepit, and a wonderful waterfall made from natural rocks.
“We have lived here for 4 years and have never been able to use our garden; it is so exciting to have the most amazing space for our family now. “
Ground Floor Patio, Bistro Style. Illovo
Bespoke outdoor shelf designed to fit the space. Vertical food gardens. Storage, planters, herbs, and decoration. Made from wood and steel.
“We love our upgraded patio! The new wall unit has changed how we spend our time outside. I highly recommend Garden Life.”
Apartment Balcony, Contemporary Style. Morningside
This lovely apartment had no space for dining inside. So we created a dining area with kitchenette on the balcony, and added stylish grey pots with hedge plants for privacy.
“Entertaining was always a mission, but Garden Life’s solution has made it such a pleasure.”
Apartment Balcony, Contemporary Style. Killarney
Reconditioned client’s old terracotta pots to match the modern style of apartment and create privacy and greenery.
“I’ve had these pots for a long time, and was so pleased to finally find someone who could recondition them and make my balcony space cosy and green”
Courtyard Garden, Traditional Style. Saxonwold
Small effort making a big impact. Dead space brought to life with simple addition of a bench to spend time on reflecting and enjoying the greenery
Townhouse, Custom Style: ‘South African Farmhouse’. Linden
Removed alien plants and transformed the garden to indigenous cottage style. Built a farm style stone retaining wall for a vegetable patch, and added mounds to mimic rural hills.
“Thanks so much. You are so generous with your advice and time…”
Townhouse, Zen Style. Linden
This dull area in the back corner of the property was transformed into a lush and tranquil fern garden complete with water feature and stone finishing.
Courtyard, Bistro Style. Houghton
We added some personality to a functional but uninspired courtyard braai area. Brought to life with wooden planter boxes for vegetables, trellis, wall panelling and an Espalier fruit tree. Plus a door-size veggie patch in the lawn.
“Fabulous thank you Paul, love it.”
House Garden, Classic Style. Houghton
We offer custom designed compost heaps to collect fallen leaves (saves trips to dump) and provide nourishment for the flower beds. We also supply lawn dressing to rejuvenate your lawn.
Town House, Bistro Style. Birdhaven
Bespoke wooden shelving unit with uniform rectangular pots filled with veggies. Made use of an unloved alcove to green the house and feed the family with vegetables.
Townhouse, Country Style. Houghton
The addition of a wooden pergola gave meaning to this unused patio outside the living area. Now the space is well defined, offers a structure for plants to grow on, and extends the interior space to the outdoors.
